Tragedy has struck former Miss USA Ali Landry’s family, as her father-in-law Juan Manuel Gómez Fernéndez and brother-in-law, Juan Manuel Gómez Monteverde, have been found dead in Mexico.

Landry is married to filmmaker, Alejandro Gómez Monteverde, whose father and brother’s bodies were positively identified on Saturday.

People reports the father and son were kidnapped on Sept. 4 outside of their home in Tamaulipas but were found dead in northern Veracruz, in an area called El Chachalaco.

When they were found this past weekend, they had already been dead for a few days and they had severe head injuries.

Latin Times reports Juan Manuel was a restaurant owner which has previously reported drug cartel activity there.

The family had paid a ransom to their kidnappers, however, they didn’t follow through with their promise to release them, according to Televisa news anchor Carlo s Loret de Mola.

Landry and Monteverde have three children; Estela Inez, 8, Marcelo Alejandro, 3, and Valentin Francesco, 2, and have been married since 2006.
