Helen Mirren is taking an issue with men who put their arms around their significant others’ shoulders, claiming it’s possessive.

Mirren spoke with MailOnline’s You magazine about this issue, saying it looks like the men are trying to show “ownership” of their girlfriend.

“It annoys me when I see men with an arm slung around their girlfriend’s shoulders,” she said. “It’s like ownership.”

“Of course, when you’re young, you want the guy to take your hand and look after you,” she continued, “but when I see girls being leaned on, I want to say, ‘tell him to get his damned arm off your shoulder.’”

Now 70, Mirren also talked about her sexualized image from a young age, calling it “incredibly irritating at times.”

“My identity as an actress was sexualized very early on. Looking back over the past 40 years, it’s been a hindrance as well as a help,” she said.

Mirren, who’s a spokeswoman for L’Oréal Paris’ Perfect skincare and Excellence hair color line, also said she has learned to be more self assured through age.

“There’s a huge pressure on young girls to look a certain way these days but, as I age, I’ve lost that incredible insecurity of youth,” she said.
