Hillary Clinton is a feminist and she doesn’t understand the negative connotation surrounding the word “feminist.”
The former Secretary of State sat down with Lena Dunham to discuss a variety of topics, including her view on feminism.
In a clip of the interview shared by Politco Dunham asks Clinton if she considers herself a feminist. “Absolutely,” Clinton says with a big grin. “You know, I’m always puzzled when any woman, whatever age, but particularly a young woman says something like, ‘Well, I believe in equal rights but I’m not a feminist,’” she continues. “A feminist by definition is someone who believes in equal rights,” Clinton affirmed.
The full interview will be released Tuesday, Sept. 29 as part of Dunham’s new website/newsletter, LennyLetter.com. Politico also shares that the pre-taped segment includes comedy sketches filmed at Clinton’s Brooklyn headquarters, and a popular comedian (hint hint, Amy Schumer) will make a cameo.
Another portion of the interview was released earlier. It had Mrs. Clinton talking about President Clinton’s three marriage proposals.
