Scandal star Kerry Washington understands that fans have been waiting for years to see her character Olivia and President Fitz, played by Tony Goldwyn, get it together and she admitted to E! News that she’s “nervous” to see it play out.

"You know, in a lot of shows when the central love relationship finally comes together, that's the end of the show," Washington told E! at the Allstate Foundation Purple Purse's event. "Which I was really nervous about when I read our finale last year. I was like, 'Do we get a season five? Do we not get a season five?' But I think it's more like in life, that when our relationship begins, that's the beginning, not the end."

Washington then realized that the beginning of Olivia and Fitz’s relationship, referred to as Olitz by fans, marks a fresh start for the ABC hit.

"They get to discover what that means, what's it like with all that tension of not being able to be together," Washington adds. "What will it be like for them?"

Another Shondaland leading lady, Ellen Pompeo, has the opposite problem. Grey’s Anatomy is revamping after Pompeo’s longtime love interest, Patrick Dempsey, left the show last year.

Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal air Thursdays on ABC, at 8pm and 9pm respectively.
