Kanye West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week, where she talked about her husband’s political ambitions.

West first told the world he would be running for president in 2020 during his acceptance speech for the MTV Video Vanguard award at the VMAs last month but it was mostly brushed off as a joke.

Kardashian, who’s expecting their second child, said it was “news” to her when he made this startling announcement but it turns out, he wasn't joking.

"He's serious,” she said about setting his sights on becoming president. “If he puts his mind to something he’ll do his best. You know, it’s been fascinating just hearing all of the conversations that have gone on since that announcement.”

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star also said she would like to be the First Lady so they could redecorate the White House.

West also confirmed himself that he wasn’t joking about running for president, telling Vanity Fair he would prefer not to run against anyone.
