A British man will spend four months in jail after he continuously called emergency services and claimed that he was rapper Nicki Minaj.
The New York Daily News reported that 24-year-old Stephen Brown made a series of strange phone calls to emergency personnel earlier this year.
In one call, Brown told an operator that he was being attacked and needed help, but then hung up only to call back and say he wanted to cancel the first call. Then in another call, he claimed that he was Minaj and that there was a ghost in his house.
Belfast Live noted that Brown’s sentence stems from the fact that he violated an Anti-Social Behavior Order which bans him from calling the 999 emergency system unless there is a true reason.
Brown’s lawyer said his client is an alcoholic who is “his own worst enemy.” Judge Desmond Marrinan, however, called the defendant a “nuisance” and said that he could be tying up the line from people who really need it.
