Megan Fox has signed on as a recurring character on the popular Fox comedy New Girl.
It was announced on Thursday that the Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles star would star in a multi-episode arc during the upcoming season.
Fox is set to join the show midway through the season, replacing main lead Zooey Deschanel, who is currently on maternity leave after having a baby in August.
On the show, Fox’s character will rent out Jess’s (Zooey Deschanel) room while Jess is away, and her character is set add a new dynamic to the show.
Fox’s character, Reagan, is described as "a gorgeous, straight-shooting pharmaceutical sales rep who comes to town on business and shakes things up when she rents out Jess' room while she is sequestered on jury duty,” in the official Fox announcement.
“It’s insane to me that such a gorgeous person can be so funny, but I guess we just all have to accept it,” executive producer Liz Meriwether said of Megan Fox.
“I’ve been a fan of her comedic skills since This is 40, and I’m so excited to have her on the show. We had Megan in mind when we wrote this part – she’s the perfect person to come in and shake these guys up,” Meriwether added.
Fox hasn’t had a major role on television in a decade, with her last role as a series regular being on ABC’s Hope & Faith. In addition to being on New Girl, Fox is currently working on the upcoming TMNT sequel.
The fifth season of New Girl is scheduled to premier in January.
