Why would a “hot, tall, straight, white, architect” possibly be interested in the musings of Mindy Kaling? Because Mindy Kaling is a comedic genius that’s why.

Mindy Kaling feels confused and scammed in the trailer for her new book. Kaling’s second book, Why Not Me? is a follow up memoir to her first book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns).

In the book trailer, Kaling rides an elevator with a male architect. She tells the man, played by Anders Holm, “I didn’t know that job was real.” Kaling then noticed the man had a copy of her book. She went from flirting with the architect to attempting to figure out his motives. Kaling accused the man of buying the book for his girlfriend, being gay, using the jacket to cover an erotic novel, and scamming her. Holm told Kaling, “I saw your book in the store, picked it up, started reading it and turns out, pretty funny, so I bought it.” In turn she slapped him and demanded, “Who put you up to this?”

If you think Holm looks familiar, that’s because he is played Mindy Lahiri’s (Kaling) fiancé, pastor turned rapper, Casey. He is also on the Comedy Central series, Workaholics.

Why Not Me? is available Sept. 15. Kaling’s series The Mindy Project debuts on Hulu the same day.
