Nearly a month after former NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams’ suspension ended, NBC News finally has a date for when we can expect to see the disgraced journalist back on the air.

An NBC News spokesman told The New York Times that Williams will be back on MSNBC on Sept. 22. The Hollywood Reporter also confirmed the date, which coincides with Pope Francis’ visit to Philadelphia.

The network decided in June that Williams will stay at NBC, but he was demoted to MSNBC’s newsdesk. Lester Holt was made the full-time anchor of NBC Nightly News.

Williams’ suspension ended in August. He was suspended for six months without pay after it was discovered that he embellished a story about being on a helicopter that was hit by an RPG during the Iraq War. An internal investigation also reportedly discovered that there were other stories Williams told on late night talk shows that weren’t 100 percent true.

Williams’ return also comes while MSNBC is in a complete state of flux. They’ve cancelled many of their daytime shows and Mediate reported last week that Morning Joe is expected to get an extra hour. Kate Snow, who often fills in on Nightly News, will get her own slot from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The big mystery is who will replace Al Sharpton at 6 p.m. when he moves to Sundays.
