NBC has ordered a prequel drama series that will be based upon the popular movie franchise Taken by Luc Besson.
The entire Taken franchise has earned over $900 million at the worldwide box office and helped to launch Neeson as an action star. The TV show will be focusing on the early years of Bryan Mills. Even though this is focusing on Mills past, the show will be set and taking place in modern times.
Deadline first reported that the show had been given a straight to series order from NBC and that the show is being produced by Besson and EuropaCorp co-chairs Edouard de Vesinne and Thomas Anargyros. This marks an equal partnership with EuropaCorp. and Universal TV.
The upcoming Taken series is one of many movie inspired shows that will be featured on TV schedules this year. As previously reported,also airing is a series inspired by Minority Report, Limitless and Rush Hour. Report is being directed by Mark Mylod (The Affair) and Max Borenstein (Godzilla) is writing.
