Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has done some truly great things on the field and as this heartwarming story proves, he does some really wonderful things off the field as well. The example happened this past Sunday when he treated a dying fan to come watch the season opener against the Baltimore Ravens.

On Wednesday, Dana Benbow of the Indianapolis Star wrote an open letter to the quarterback thanking him for making her friend’s dreams come true when he flew her out to the game.

Kari Barnett Bollig is a lifelong Indianapolis Colts fan who was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer that has spread to her bones and lungs. The Denver Post noted that after Bollig mailed a letter to the signal caller, he flew her and her husband, Ed, out to Sports Authority Field at Mile High to see him play.

Bollig and her husband toured the stadium, took in the game and then met the quarterback himself.

“It was so sweet because he shakes my hand and says, ‘I’m Peyton Manning.’ It was cute. It was kind of like, ‘I know who you are Peyton,'” Bollig said.

In her thank you letter, Benbow told Manning that she was never really his biggest fan. Now, however, she can say she “loves” him for what he did for her “childhood friend from Greenfield, Ind., who is dying of breast cancer.”
