UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey takes stand after Nick Diaz receives five-year suspension for testing positive for marijuana.

According to the LA Times Rousey thinks Diaz suspension is not right and fighters shouldn’t be tested for weed at all because it is not a performance enhancing drug.

Rousey echoes the opinions of many MMA fans that believe the suspension is overboard especially considering Anderson Silva, who tested positive for steroids earlier this year, was suspended for only one year.

Diaz, who also happens to be a friend and training partner of Rousey’s, was handed his sentence by the Nevada State Athletic Commission Wednesday. It is the third offense in his career.

http://www.foxsports.com/ufc/story/ufc-ronda-rousey-nick-diaz-suspension-blasts-nevada-athletic-commission-091615 reported that Rousey did take the time to defend UFC president Dana White and making it clear that the UFC does not control the punishments handed down by the commissions. Rousey also called the suspension a gross injustice and believes its testing is an invasion of privacy.

Other fighters such as Josh Samman have also shown support for Diaz and spoken publicly about the controversial decision. Due to Diaz’s age, 32, the punishment is being viewed as a death sentence to his career.

His attorney will look to fight the decision in court in hopes of reducing Diaz sentence.
