Ryan Reynolds has recalled a disheartening experience he went through with a friend he had grown up with, which ended in the dissolution of their long friendship.
Blake Lively’s husband revealed to GQ that he caught his friend trying to sell photos of his daughter, James.
“A guy that I’d known for my whole life, one of my closest friends growing up, he had been shopping pictures of my baby around,” he explained. “I kind of got in front of it, which is good. But it was a slightly dark period. A bad couple of weeks.”
He compared it to “death” and called it one of the most “devastating” things he’s gone through in his 38 years.
Unluckily for his friend, who never “thought he would ever be caught,” it wasn’t too hard for Reynolds to figure out who it was.
“It’s a pretty narrow group of people that I would send photos like that to,” he said. “They’re just, like, my closest family and my closest friends: ‘Here’s us in the delivery room!’”
He went on to say that his cash-strapped friend had asked him for money many times before that, so he found a “shocking” way to try and get his hands on some more.
“I think he’d ask for a check enough times where I was like, ‘There’s no more checks to be had,’” said Reynolds.
Reynolds and Lively, 28, welcomed their daughter in Dec. 2014 and they still haven’t released a photo of James' face, just her tiny fingers and shots of her covered up.
