Sandra Lee made her first red carpet appearance on Sunday since undergoing a double mastectomy then having to return to the hospital for some complications. She attended the Emmy Awards wearing a pale pink Thierry Mugler gown.
Lee underwent surgery in May, but spent the past four months or so recovering in and out of the hospital. In August she was released from the hospital after surgery for complications from the first surgery and was able to rest at home. Her team updated fans at the time and revealed she had an infection.
She took a quick break from social media, but returned to Facebook this past weekend to tell fans about the “unreal chain of events in my life” over the past year.
A source told Daily News she’s now “hopeful” about the future, and her Emmys “dress makes that statement.”
It was believed she wore pink as an ode to breast cancer awareness, but it turns out she bought the dress even before her March diagnosis.
