The Pittsburgh Steelers might have won against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, but the team lost quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. He could be out for four to six weeks.
Roethlisburger suffered a sprained MCL in his left knee, reports ESPN. The MRI did show that he didn’t tear his ACL.
The official word from head coach Mike Tomlin is that there is no time table for the Super Bowl winner’s return. “ There is no timetable for his return, but Ben is a competitor and we are confident he will do everything in his power to return at the appropriate time,” Tomlin said.
The injury happened with 5:35 left in the third quarter and backup Michael Vick came in to play the rest of the game. When Rams safety Mark Barron sacked Roethlisberger, he hit the quarterback’s left knee. Roethlisberger then needed help in order to get to the sideline.
Roethlisberger was 20 for 24 with 192 yards passing and an interception. Vick, who will have to start against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, only passed six times, completing five passes for 38 yards.
The Steelers (2-1) defense held the Rams (1-2) to just six points in the 12-6 win.
