The start of each new TV season is like the beginning of a calendar year. There’s the same sense of excitement, with each network hoping to do better than they did last year. While the No. 1 network can change, there is one constant: shows will get cancelled.
Some shows get cancelled after two episodes. Some get to live out their entire 13-episode order. Others even live to 22 episodes before getting the axe. And something that is becoming increasingly common is shows that get cancelled, but their unaired episodes are dropped online.
While obsessing about shows that won’t make it is admittedly morbid, it is usually easy to pick which ones will get cancelled. For my list last year, I picked seven shows that were cancelled. (I wrongly predicted that Scorpion, Black-ish and Mysteries of Laura would get cancelled.)
This year, things are a bit harder. Everyone is trying to play catch-up to Fox, weirdly enough, because Empire was such a big hit last season. In fact, it could be argued that it was the only big hit last season.
Still, there aren’t that many changes. As I previously noted in May when all the schedules were released, ABC and Fox only have five new shows premiering in the fall each. NBC has six and CBS only has three. And remarkably, The CW has just one new show premiering this fall. Weirdly enough, most of the new shows will premiere on Tuesdays. Fox even has a full lineup of new shows ready to go on Tuesdays.
So, let’s take a look at the shows that will likely be members of the fall 2015 turkey class.
