One of the most powerful moments of the Global Citizen Festival was when Beyoncé joined Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder for a special rendition of Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song.”

Seated side-by-side and with Vidder on the guitar, the duo serenated the lucky Central Park crowd. At about the three-minute mark, the video of Nelson Mandela’s famous Trafalgar Square speech takes over the stage's backdrop. Mandela delivered the speech in 2005 to urge world leaders to come together and end global poverty.

As we previously reported, Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Ariana Grande, Coldplay, Stephen Colbert and Hugh Jackman were some of the stars that took part in and attended the event. In addition to her duet with Vedder, Beyoncé also performed a stripped-down version of "Drunk in Love" with Ed Sheeran.

Global Citizen is an organization that raises awareness and inspires people to come together to fight the world's challenges. Tickets to the event were free to those who completed activities and raised awareness about the causes. This year the Global Citizen Festival focused on fighting extreme poverty and inequality around the world.
