ABC Family has decided to end Chasing Life after two seasons.
The drama, which follows young reporter April Carver after she is diagnosed with cancer, has been cancelled, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The series' star, Italia Ricci, confirmed the news on Twitter and Facebook.
“I don't like this one bit. Thank you to everyone who helped us tell this beautiful story. Keep fighting and never lose hope,” she wrote on Facebook.
Chasing Life aired its mid-season, and now series finale on Monday, Sept. 28. We recapped the finale, that ended with April in Italy after she decided to end her treatment.
Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith spoke to THR about the finale’s cliffhangers before the cancellation.
"With this finale, I wanted to go out as big as possible with as many question marks as possible," Smith said. "Any time I ask a question on a show, I typically know what that answer is.”
He continued to talk about a plan for a third season.
“There's a lot to explore in season three, like April's emotional state and her big decision to end treatment, there's a lot to explore with Uncle George and the manuscript and the investigation that's now in play, and then a lot to explore with Brenna and Finn now that Greer is moving back to town, and also what happens with Beth. I mean, everyone's life is up in the air right now by the end of the second season."
ABC Family recently picked up a new series, a comedy based on Nicki Minaj’s life.
