Over three months after opening in the U.S., Ant-Man is at the top of the charts once again.

According to Rentrak, Ant-Man is now the #1 movie at the international box office, taking home $43.5 million this past weekend. That boost is because the film just opened in China on Oct. 16 and it's doing incredibly well.

Factoring in domestic box office, Ant-Man is #2 worldwide behind The Martian, beating movies like Crimson Peak and Goosebumps. That's pretty impressive, especially considering Ant-Man only remains open in about 100 theaters in the U.S.

This is yet another case of an American film making huge bank thanks China. The biggest recent example of this was Terminator Genisys, which was considered to be a flop in America after making only $89 million. In China, though, Genisys grossed an additional $112 million. If we get another Terminator movie, it'll probably be because of the international box office.

If that idea of a sequel getting funded just because it did well overseas sounds far fetched, it actually just happened with The Expendables. After a fourth installment was announced, the film's executive producer said that though that franchise has disappointed in the U.S., it was really the fact that they did so well in China that has kept them coming back for more.

Ant-Man didn't have to rely on China to make a sequel happen, though. It's up to $178.7 million in the U.S. and Marvel just announced a sequel, Ant-Man And The Wasp.
