Fox News correspondent Bill O’Reilly condemned talk show host Jon Stewart over his comments on the Christmas season.
Stewart said that the holiday was the aggressor nation if there is a war. This was in response to viewer complaints that they could not celebrate Christmas anytime at anyplace.
"There is no question that Mr. Stewart is going to hell," O’Reilly said in a tongue-in-cheek way.
However, he did agree with Stewart for accurately acknowledging that the early settlers did, in fact, outlaw Christmas for a time. O’Reilly also agreed that retailers can go overboard with their celebrations and decorating, thereby exploiting the holiday.
Stewart later replied to O’Reilly’s words with:
"I make my living watching Fox News eight hours a day. I'm already in hell."
Stewart and O’Reilly have debated on numerous occasions.
In May, the two debated on the show The O’Reilly Factor over President Barack Obama’s decision to invite rapper Common to the White House. O’Reilly and other anchors from Fox objected because Common has stated that he supports the killing of police officers and the assassination of former president George W. Bush. Stewart replied with a rap of his own.
In Sept. 2010, O’Reilly asked Stewart if he regretted voting for Obama in 2008.
Stewart said he didn’t but added:
"I agree with the sentiment that he ran as a visionary, and he's led as a functionary."
