Five players from the Boston Bruins hockey team made their annual visit to the Boston Children's Hospital on Wednesday, and, keeping with their tradition, showed up in costume just in time for Halloween.
Zdeno Chara, Torey Krug, David Krejci, Jimmy Hayes, and Tuukka Rask dressed as characters from Despicable Me, with their captain, Chara, dressed as Gru. The players visited numerous patients, and handed out candy in each room.
"We went around and put some smiles on children's faces and it was just awesome," said Krug. "We dress up, and take their mind off whatever they're going through and just put smiles on their faces- it's a lot of fun."
The Despicable Me theme was a great choice for the team because of Chara's resemblance to Gru, but also the height difference between him and the rest of the guys.
Appearance-wise, this year's choice was much better than last year's when the team dressed in a Frozen theme, with Dougie Hamilton as Elsa.
This tradition that the Bruins have is not only an opportunity for the team to give back, but it's also a way to bring happiness to children who are otherwise struggling to find it.
