Charlize Theron's Imperator Furiosa was easily the standout character of Mad Max: Fury Road, but according to the film's director, fans shouldn't get their hopes up about seeing any more of her.
In an interview with Digital Spy, director George Miller said that Furiosa will not be in the next Mad Max movie at all.
Miller did say that in one of the multiple new Mad Max stories that's being discussed there is an interaction between Max and Furiosa, but it sounds like even that won't be a major part of the film. The director said that the movies are still in progress and so he can't really say much more, but it sounds as if he really doesn't have a whole lot planned for Furiosa in the future.
That's probably a huge bummer for Fury Road fans, as a lot of viewers enjoyed her character in that movie even more than Max. However, we probably should have seen it coming, since when Theron was asked about the next Mad Max movie, she didn't even know there was one being made.
At best, Furiosa fans can hope for a cameo in some sequel years down the line, but the next Mad Max will likely be a completely original story with all new characters.
