When Community season six came to an end a few months ago, there was a lot of uncertainty about whether there'd be another season. Now, the showrunner is saying that it seems pretty unlikely.
Harmon explained, "Before she was gone, she was the person that anyone could pick up the phone and say, 'Let's make this Community thing happen,' whatever it was, and she's the reason it would get done."
He also speculated half-jokingly that bringing back Community might have gotten her fired, although there doesn't seem to be much evidence of that beyond Harmon's gut feeling.
It should be noted, though, that Harmon was specifically talking about the likelihood of a seventh season here and so there still remains hope that a movie could happen. Fans should probably come to terms with the fact that season seven won't get made, though, especially after Joel McHale said that all the actors' contracts were up and they'd now be much more expensive to sign on.
Since most of the actors and writers having moved on to other projects it seems like aCommunity movie could be on the horizon, but it's probably not something fans should expect anytime soon.
