Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman will be busting their last myths. After over a decade, Discovery has cancelled Mythbusters and its upcoming 14th season will be its last.

The sad news was revealed by Entertainment Weekly. The show will reach 248 episodes at the end of season 14, with over 2,900 experiments done on the show. Savage also confirmed the news on Twitter.

“It was my greatest fear that Mythbusters would just stop and we wouldn’t be able to do proper final episodes,” Savage told EW. “So whether it’s myths about human behavior or car stories or explosion stories, we tried to find the most awesome example of each category and build on our past history.”

Hyneman told EW that the two, who are not friends in real life and have very different personalities, are executive producing a scripted show at CBS. He couldn’t reveal any details on it though. Hyneman said he will also continue running the M5 special effects company.

Mythbusters started airing in 2003 and has been a mainstay at Discovery ever since. The first few seasons featured Hyneman and Savage working on at least two myths, but soon a second team was brought on to split the workload. Tory Belleci, Kari Byron and Grant Imahara became fan-favorites, but Discovery let them go last year.

The last season of Mythbusters will start on Jan. 9 and the Science Channel is starting a Mythbusters marathon on Dec. 23.
