In addition to being one of the most popular tracks on Ed Sheeran's X album,"Thinking Out Loud" also helped pay one of his childhood friend's mortgage.

Sheeran told Mirror that his long-time friend, Amy Wadge, asked him to write the track as a way to help her make ends meet.

"She drove to my house, my album was nearly done and she asked if I could put a song from when I was 17 on the deluxe album, so she could get a little bit of money and pay the mortgage and bills and stuff."

He said that as she was visiting, the two of them wrote the hit song "Thinking Out Loud" and Sheeran added ,"Now she never has to worry about money again."

The website reports that since co-writing "Thinking Out Loud," Wadge has written for artists including Ben Hawnow and Geri Horner. The track has had tremendous success and has been streamed over half a billion times on Spotify.

On Sunday night, alongside Ruby Rose, Sheeran co-hosted the MTV Europe Music Awards. The Brit performed with Rudimental and won two awards.
