Former Subway restaurant pitchman Jared Fogle has paid out $1 million to his victims ahead of his November sentencing.
The New York Times noted that on Friday prosecutors announced that Fogle has so far paid $1 million in restitution to 10 of his 14 victims. The other four victims will each receive $100,000 prior to his sentencing scheduled for Nov. 19.
As we previously reported, the former spokesman plead guilty to charges of distributing and receiving child pornography and engaging in illegal sexual activities with minors last August. He agreed to pay out $1.4 million as part of a plea deal.
"While Jared fully recognizes that such monetary contribution will not undo the harm he has caused, he is hopeful it will assist these individuals as they try to move forward with their lives," Fogle’s attorneys said.
He began working for the food chain in 2000 through July of this year when Subway ended its partnership with him in the wake of the charges.
