Game of Thrones fans are desperately hoping Melisandre will resurrect Jon Snow in Season 6, but now it looks like another red priestess will be joining the cast.
According to Deadline, Melanie Liburd has been cast as a red priestess in Game of Thrones' sixth season. Liburd has starred in shows such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and The Grinder.
Don't fret, though. She's just playing a different red priestess, so she won't be replacing Melisandre as some have speculated. Further details about Liburd's character haven't been officially revealed, but according to Watchers on the Wall, the rumor is that she'll be a red priestess named Kinvara who comes to visit Tyrion and Varys in Meereen. Leaked set photos show Liburd performing a scene in which the people of Meereen flock to see her speak.
Technically there was also another red priestess featured last season played by Rila Fukushima, seen preaching to slaves about Daenerys, so there has been precedent for Lord of Light worshipers besides Melisandre. However, this was a relatively minor and unnamed character.
Meanwhile, Melisandre will evidently be doing something "spectacular" in the upcoming season, as actress Carice Van Houten teased a few months ago. Might she be bringing a certain someone back from the grave?
