If you're one of the many people who loved Mad Max: Fury Road and were hoping for a sequel, director George Miller has some good news for you.
Miller said that they ended up with two new Mad Max scripts, and that he's talking with Warner Bros. about which one should be produced next. It sounds like the next movie won't be happening immediately, though. Not only has Miller not chosen a script, but he also said that he wants to direct a smaller film first.
"We’ve got two more planned, but at some point in the future," Miller continued.
Still, even if we have a long time to wait, the fact that Fury Road wasn't just a one-off movie and that we'll be getting a whole new trilogy is pretty exciting. Besides, there was already a 30-year wait between the third and fourth Mad Max films, so it's not as if fans aren't used to being patient with this franchise.
Here's some bad news, though: although the studio has signed on Tom Hardy for more movies, Charlize Theron is not yet contracted for any sequels. When interviewed recentlyabout appearing in more Mad Max films, she had no idea that there was even a sequel happening at all. Seeing as Imperator Furiosa was by far the best character in Fury Road, let's hope the studio is able to get her back on board.
