On this week’s episode of How to Get Away with Murder, Annalise represents a teenager accused of killing her best friend, Michaela attempts to help Caleb and Catherine, and Wes and Levi seek new leads on Rebecca.

Police cruisers and ambulances surround Caleb and Catherine’s mansion and EMTs tend to Annalise and the D.A. Nate and her students hear the medics call the run in on his radio, panicking when Michaela’s phone begins to ring. After a brief dispute, Nate urges Michaela to take the call and act normal. She pulls it off.

Meanwhile, Annalise flatlines in the ambulance.

Four weeks earlier, Annalise is soaking in her bathtub when she receives a call from Nate. It’s his wife, Nia dialing from his phone. Annalise visits Nia in the hospital, where she’s battling fourth stage ovarian cancer. Nia wants Annalise to help her end her life.

When Annalise heads home, Bonnie and her students are waiting for her along with a new client named, Zoey. She is a teenage girl accused of murdering her best friend, Rachel and claims their new friends, Molly and Megan forced her to commit the murder.

In court, Annalise argues Zoey’s innocence, blaming Molly and Megan for the murder. She pleads with the jury to consider sending Zoey to a psychiatric facility rather than jail. The other side argues that Zoey is a sociopath.

Simultaneously, Connor argues with the rest of the group while they’re working. He thinks Annalise’s opening argument is thinly veiled account of how she’s manipulated them. The others point out that even if Annalise is “brainwashing” them, they can’t exactly quit. The conversation ends when Annalise enters, asking them to find holes in the case and sends Michaela on a mission to trick Caleb and Catherine into admitting their incestuous affair.

Bonnie calls Asher to see if he’s coming to work and he lies, claiming to be sick. In reality, he and his dad are making a deal with the D.A. to ensure he’s protected.

Michaela meets with Caleb who’s skeptical of her ability to help.

Back at court, a doctor who treated Zoey takes the stand. Later, Annalise recalls Nia asking her to get pills from Frank since no one else will help her kill herself.

In the present, the judge notes Annalise’s distraction and offers to give a short recess before she cross-examines the doctor. Moments later, Annalise asks Frank for help.

Wes argues with Levi while the group continues to find ways to undermine Zoey’s doctor. A mishap with a schizophrenic patient proves helpful for Annalise.

Annoyed with the rest of the group, Wes leaves. Meanwhile, Connor tries to comfort Zoey after Molly and Megan try to intimidate her, which upsets Laurel. Laurel thinks Zoey is a sociopath.

Wes meets Nate at the precinct; he’s got a lead on Rebecca. Nate mentions someone named, Sabrina Mancini and eventually, Wes passes this info along to Levi, who searches for additional answers. He promises to keep it a secret.

Michaela works with Caleb and Catherine.

News breaks that Molly and Megan will be testifying in court the following day when Zoey realizes her phone is lost. Bonnie tries getting in touch with Asher — but to no avail — and asks Frank if he can help her trace Asher’s phone.

Back at the Keating house, Laurel makes a phone call and the others grill Michaela about her apparent crush on Caleb. Michaela reports she can’t find anything definitive to prove the siblings’ innocence, which angers Annalise.

Wes lashes out at Levi for not keeping his promise to stay away from Michaela, but simmers down when Levi mentions he found Sabrina Mancini.

Laurel visits Frank and admits she stole Zoey’s phone. She unlocks an app used to hide data and finds an incriminating video of Zoey and the other girls. When Annalise shows the video to Zoey’s parents the following day, they plead with her to make it disappear. Annalise agrees to have every possible copy deleted, but Connor disagrees, claiming that Zoey is a psychopath. The two fight.

Frank delivers the pills Nia requested to Annalise.

Michaela interrogates Catherine and Catherine deflects her questions by speculating as to whether or not Michaela is interested in dating her brother.

Annalise’s plan to get Zoey off begins to tank when Molly breaks down on the witness stand and another copy of the video Laurel obtained is introduced in court. Later, Zoey’s parents flip on Annalise and Annalise tells Nate she met with Nia. She leaves out Nia’s plan to kill herself, though.

Later, Annalise’s final attempt to help Zoey fails and Zoey is taken away in handcuffs after she threatens Molly.

Connor admits he slipped the video to the court, because he didn’t want any “more blood on his hands.” Annalise promises he’ll be in big trouble if he ever pulls a similar stunt again. Enter Michaela who announces she’s found something to help Caleb and Catherine prove their innocence: Catherine is a virgin, meaning no incestuous relationship between the siblings exists.

When Annalise asks Catherine if she’ll have a medical exam to prove this, she obliges and passes the test. Annalise also notices Michaela’s attraction to Caleb.

Levi and Wes discuss updates regarding Rebecca. It turns out that Frank knows Sabrina Mancini’s brother, Bruno and asked him to help dispose of Rebecca’s body. They go to the cemetery where Bruno works.

Annalise refuses to help Nia, Asher finalizes his deal with the D.A. and calls Bonnie out on Annalise’s shady habits, and Wes shares what he and Levi found out about Rebecca with with Nate. Annalise spots them from afar.

In the present, Nate assures the group everything will be fine, despite Annalise’s rapidly declining condition and Michaela visits Caleb.

End of episode.
