Although they haven't made it official yet, it looks like Netflix will be bringing back Gilmore Girls after an eight year break, and now we have some new details about the upcoming season.

According to TVLine, the Gilmore Girls revival will consist of just four episodes. The good news, though, is that each one will be 90 minutes long, so they'll be following the Sherlock approach of the season being sort of a collection of mini-movies.

These four episodes will apparently have a pretty interesting format, as each one will cover one season, meaning one episode will be fall, one will be winter, etc. As a whole, then, the four episodes will cover exactly one year in the life of Rory and Lorelai. The revival is expected to be set in modern day, so roughly eight or nine years after the last episode.

Just to be safe, it might be best not to get your hopes up too much, as negotiations with the cast are still underway and none of this information has been confirmed by Netflix. The closest there was to confirmation was Lauren Graham writing on Twitter, "DUDES. I can't confirm this. But I also can't deny this."

It was only a week ago that the news was initially reported, so let's hope that a statement is released soon enough so fans can celebrate without any anxiety.
