‘Gotham’ nabs Paul Reubens to play The Penguin’s father

Fox and the Gotham team announced that another major star is joining the show during the series' New York Comic Con panel. Paul Reubens has been cast as The Penguin's father.

Robin Lord Taylor, who plays The Penguin/Oswald Cobblepot on the Batman prequel series, was excited to also share the news on Twitter. “Unreal. I have the best tv parents. Legends,” Taylor wrote.

Yes, both of his parents are now played by TV legends. The Oscar-nominated Carol Kane has been playing Oswald’s mother since season one and now the star of Pee Wee’s Playhouse is joining the show.

Reubens actually played the same role in 1992’s Batman Returns, although this time it will likely be a much bigger part. The actor has been making a comeback of sorts lately, even starring in the Netflix TV movie Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday. That movie will be available on Netflix in March.
