Singer Harry Connick Jr. won’t be away from your TV screens very long after American Idol ends. He will be hosting his own daytime variety show, starting next fall.
The show, simply titled Harry, was sold to Fox Television Stations in national syndication on Tuesday, according to a statement posted on his site. While it will air on Fox stations, Harry is actually an NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution production.
Fox TV Stations owns stations in 17 markets and other station groups are in the process of buying the show.
Justin and Eric Stangel, who were executive producers and writers on The Late Show with David Letterman, will be Harry’s executive producers. The show is billed as a throwback to family-friendly variety shows and will make use of all of Connick’s talents.
“I'm a lucky guy. I get to be a husband to a wonderful wife, a father to three incredible daughters, and an entertainer to the most amazing fans. And now, I’m honored to be able to put smiles on people’s faces on a daily basis,” Connick said. “Working with the amazingly talented and hysterical Stangel Brothers is a dream come true. Harry will be an hour filled with fun, music and laughter. Fasten your seat belts - it's gonna be one heck of a good time!”
