Jane The Virgin returned last night with a special guest appearance from singer Kesha. The episode opened with a flashback of Jane’s relationship with Michael, when she started off trying to get into the things he was interested in, including camping. In the flashback, she admits she hates camping and he understands. He surprises her with a gift he made for her with a giraffe.
In the present, Xiomara and the family are trying to get Jane to take a shower, who has not had one in a week and has been focused on getting a routine down with Mateo and getting things cleaned up around the house. When they see an opening, Rafael goes to take Mateo for a little bit and Xiomara urges her to shower. However, when they finally get her into the bathroom, she changes her mind and goes to take a nap.
Later on, Jane is burping Mateo when Xo comes in to talk to her. Jane talks about having trouble sleeping, including because of neighbors next door who play loud music at night and wake the baby up. Xiomara suggests she take Mateo out, but Jane is hesitant for many reasons, including his kidnapping. Xiomara tells her that her “boyfriends” are there and Jane balks at her statement. When Xiomara asks who wants to take her to lunch, both Rafael and Michael come in.
Petra is in the middle of getting acupuncture when Scott comes in. He is blackmailing her by asking for a promotion to the lounge instead of just being Rafael’s assistant. Scott is doing this to keep his silence about Petra taking Rafael’s sperm.
Rogelio is on the phone with his lawyers about a lawsuit he is facing for leaving the Vegas residency to be at Jane’s side for the baby’s birth. He tells Xiomara that he can fix this by doing a show on a cruise ship, but this is not what he wants. However, Xiomara reminds him that until they have the annulment, she is his wife and they are doing this because she refuses to be sued.
At lunch, things are tense between Michael and Rafael, who are both trying to do things for Jane. When the baby begins fussing, a relieved Jane uses this opportunity to take him to the bathroom to be changed. Jane finishes changing the baby when she sees a vision of herself as “Bachelorette” Jane. She urges our Jane to pick one of the guys to give a rose to, but this isn’t something she was thinking about. When a woman with red hair walks in, Jane almost panics thinking it is Rose. However, it is just a woman coming in to use the bathroom. Jane goes back to the table and tells the guys what happened. Michael ends up admitting that even though Rose isn’t there, she may have changed her face so she could look like anyone.
Jane comes home with the baby to find her mom and Abuela both encouraging her on who she should be with. Xo is #TeamMichael while Abuela is #TeamRafael. When she brings up how hot he is, Jane is shocked and simply goes to her room. She sees the other Jane again, who asks her about her choice between the guys. Jane is asked who she would take on dates with, but before she can finish, the loud music starts again.
Jane takes Mateo to talk to the neighbors, one being played by Kesha, but she does not have any luck. They claim that noise ordinance maintains they can play until 11 pm and that the baby wakes them at 6 am. Jane is not happy at all, but backs down to avoid drama.
Petra and Rafael discuss their need to outbid for neighboring property since if anyone else buys it, then they could obstruct view for Marbella. Luisa is also with them, trying to learn the ropes of the family business. Petra brings up Scott and giving him a promotion, which has Rafael a bit confused. However, he tells her to have Scott send a resume so Petra texts Scott to make one up. As they leave, a man comes into the hotel. It turns out to be the man we saw at the end of the last episode, who handed an unknown woman (Sin Rostro?) an iPad.
Jane has a nightmare that a red headed UPS woman wants to take her baby. She wakes up and is relieved to see Mateo sleeping soundly in his crib. After hearing someone at the door, she sees it is Michael, who has come with a security system to install for her. She lets him do his thing while she goes to feed Mateo. He texts her later to ask if the code-name should be giraffe, which makes her smile. We see a memory of when they were camping and she is scared when she hears a noise. They discuss deal breakers in the flashback and in the present, “Bachelorette” Jane points out that while it was nice going back to memory lane, she does have to see if Michael can accept her now that the baby is there.
After he finishes the work, Jane hands Mateo to Michael so he can hold him. She brings up what happened when she got pregnant and he points out that at the time, it wasn’t his child and it was a shock. But he tells Jane that he is in and it makes Jane smile.
Lachlan comes in to talk to Petra and Rafael, but Luisa is confused and calls him Rick. He tells Rafael and Petra he has inside information on the neighboring property bid and will give it to them if he is bought out of his contract and if they give him a large sum of money. Rafael accepts.
Michael finishes installing the system and he shares a moment with Jane, in which they almost kiss. However, Jane tells him it is probably time for him to go. “Bachelorette” Jane points out how handy he was and sweet, but Jane mentions she needs “one on one time” with Rafael.
Rogelio and Xiomara are at the meeting about the cruise ship gig. Rogelio is upset about having to wear a sailor suit. Xiomara tells him that he is wearing it, even as he is upset that people will be eating while they sing. He storms off and they are shocked to see that the cruise ship has left the dock for Cuba, having thought they were only there for a meeting.
Xo talks to Jane on the laptop and tells her Rogelio thought that the lawyer told him what time the meeting was when actually, they were telling him what time to be off the ship. The rock band begins playing again, frustrating Jane. Alba comes in and closes the laptop. Rogelio comes back into the room with Xo. He is furious that the ship won’t turn around. Xo is upset because he is ruining her chance of getting to sing.
The man from earlier is watching Luisa, Petra, and Rafael as they discuss their options for the bid. Luisa keeps texting Rafael, who tries to ignore her. But as Petra’s former gynecologist, she is picking up on behaviors from Petra, including that she is not having wine or soft cheeses. Later, Rafael tells Jane about Luisa’s suspicions while they walk with the baby. He wonders who “the poor sucker” is who got her pregnant. Jane asks Rafael if she can stay over with the baby and then sees something that gives her an idea.
After asking Rafael to pick up the baby, Jane goes up to the neighbor’s house and steals their amp, the one that they had turned to face Jane’s window. Later, she arrives at Rafael’s suite to see that he has the entire room set up for the baby.
Rogelio and Xo perform for the crowd of diners, but no one pays attention to them until a chocolate fountain appears behind them. Xo realizes it and tries to keep Rogelio from seeing it. They end up dancing close to one another and later, they end up in bed together.
Rafael and Jane are in the car with Mateo and talking about the days when Rafael would go to clubs. He tells Jane about what kind of fries to order from different places. As they talk, Jane asks him what he wants from his life. He tells her he still loves her and wants a family. He goes to kiss her, but she is not ready for that. “Bachelorette” Jane appears in the backseat and pleads with Jane to choose him.
Jane has another nightmare that someone steals Mateo, but she wakes up to see he is safe with Rafael.
Xo and Rogelio are in bed together after having sex. They talk about what happened in their relationship when Xo kissed her ex. She brings up his ex-wife who cheated on him, but he does not want to hear her name. Xo assures him she loves him and they wonder if they should stop the annulment.
Rafael is on the phone with someone getting a new geological report since Lachlan apparently altered the one he gave them. Petra brings up Scott again and Rafael mentions not knowing he went to Harvard. An annoyed Petra plays along and because of how insistent she is on Scott getting a promotion, Rafael thinks Scott is the father of Petra’s baby.
Jane sees that the police are at Alba’s door and she is shocked. She goes inside to see they think they stole the amp and are asking for Alba’s ID. Jane tells her to go find it while she deals with it. Jane admits that she took it because of what happened and she is sorry. The police tell her to work things out with the neighbors and make sure her grandmother has her papers in order. A relieved Jane soon goes to apologize to Alba for scaring her. Jane returns the amp and finds out the neighbors missed a gig because they didn’t have the amp. She apologizes and offers an alternative. Jane goes home and texts Rafael that she booked “The Raging Neighbors” at the hotel.
The alarm goes off and Jane goes to try and deal with it. It is Rafael and he doesn’t know the code. As Jane tells him the code, Michael comes in to see if everything’s okay since he got an alert on his phone about the alarm. Rafael is upset he is there and ends up telling Michael it was his fault about the kidnapping. Jane tries to get them to calm down and when they ask how she feels, Jane ends up admitting she loves them both. The guys are hurt and both of them leave.
Jane and Xo talk on the laptop about what happened and Alba comes in. Xo asks her mom how she is and Jane apologizes for upsetting her. Alba admits to them both she doesn’t want to be scared anymore and is going to apply for a green card. She doesn’t want her status to hang over Mateo like it did for both Xo and Jane.
Jane gets a call from Michael, who apologizes for what happened. He brings up the kidnapping and how the baby was taken because Rose knew how he felt about Jane. Jane tells Michael about an incident in which she ended up telling Rose about their relationship, not knowing who she really was at the time. During the story, Jane mentions that Rose claimed to have been in Switzerland after someone complained about a Swiss bottle of wine. Michael picks up on this and asks Jane if she’d recognize the bottle.
Rogelio and Xo talk about their relationship. Xo thinks getting an annulment is a good idea because she wants to start off like a normal relationship, so she would like a date first. Rogelio offers to get ice cream for her for free from Cuba.
Jane finds the bottle for Michael and they see it is from Switzerland. Michael thinks it’ll be a good place to start looking for Rose. When we see the logo on the bottle, the mountains take us to where Rose possibly is, who is on the phone and demands someone take someone at that instant.
Luisa is reading the report and she mutters the name Rick. She realizes the geological report was forged and tries to go and tell Petra. However, before she can, a man grabs her and takes her away.
Michael takes Jane home and she admits she feels better that they could do something to try and stop Rose. He talks to her about how he knows her better than Rafael and says she may be in love with the idea of family. Jane thinks this is possible, but feels a strong pull as she gazes at a photo of her with Mateo and Rafael. “Bachelorette” Jane is there and Jane suggest they think outside before she closes the door on her.
Lachlan surprises Petra by telling her that he had bought the neighboring property and that he made it so the woman Rafael talked on the phone with gave him the wrong report. Petra is shocked, but distracted by the pregnancy test in her drawer.
Rafael gets a call from the medical center where his sperm was held. He finds out about a rebate from when his sperm was stored and she tells him his wife picked up the sample they had. He is horrified as he realizes he is the father of Petra’s baby. Meanwhile, after taking the test, Petra vomits on the floor.
