Donald Trump canceled his Tuesday night appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! at the last minute and Jimmy Kimmel wasn’t going to let him off the hook that easily.

Kimmel mocked the Republican presidential candidate for canceling in his opening monologue, sharing the "cryptic" reason Trump gave as to why he had to cancel so abruptly.

“They said he has a major political commitment, but he did want me to relay the message to you that if he had been here he would have been great," he explained, Rolling Stone reports.

"I'm dying to find out what this major political commitment was," he continued. "Usually it means he has to go on CNN and call someone an idiot or something."

According to Variety, Trump wasn’t booked for an interview on the show, rather he was scheduled to perform a sketch with the late night talk show host.

Kimmel, who first announced the cancellation on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show on Tuesday morning, also joked, “Why did he cancel? We told him there were cameras here, right? Are Tuesday nights the night he volunteers down at the orphanage?"

He went on to say he won’t have to “build a wall” around his sidekick Guillermo, and got in one last jab with, “We’re giving everyone in our audience a basketball dipped in cologne — so you can fully experience what it would have been like if he was here.”
