Joe Giudice sat down with Today’s Tamron Hall ahead of Bravo’s Real Housewives of New Jersey: Teresa Checks In special at the family’s New Jersey home, where he discussed his wife serving 15 months in jail and the possibility of getting deported to Italy after he serves his own four-year sentence for fraud.
"I was to blame," Giudice told Hall, Today.com reports. "I took full responsibility for everything, but they still put her away. I mean, I was supposed to go away, not her. And that was part of the plea. What I thought, anyway. I don't know what happened in the courtroom that day."
Teresa will be released on Dec. 23, and Joe will begin his sentence soon after. When asked if ever thinks about the long jail sentence he has ahead of him, he replied, “No, because if you do that, you're just gonna drive yourself crazy, and there's no point."
He also admitted he never wanted to join Real Housewives of New Jersey in the first place and never “anticipated” how massive of a hit it would be.
“I'm not saying I didn't do anything wrong or illegal, but there was definitely people behind [the scenes] talkin' to [law enforcement officials] and telling 'em we did this and telling 'em we did that to bring it to their attention,” he said. “And, you know, being in the public eye didn't help."
One topic Joe wouldn’t discuss, however, was the possibility of deportation.
The three-part Real Housewives of New Jersey: Teresa Checks In special debuts Sunday.
