The Star Wars universe is slowly adding more female characters like Rey and Captain Phasma, yet all of the directors lined up for the future films are male. Now, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy promises that will change soon.

In an interview with Fortune, Kennedy said it's alarming how few women there are getting jobs in the industry, but that she's confident that Lucasfilm will eventually hire a woman to direct a Star Wars movie. She also added that although the director is male, two-thirds of the executive story team on The Force Awakens is female.

Kennedy said that hiring a female director is all about finding the right person, notes Slash Film.

"It’s not just a token job to look out and try to find a woman that we could put into a position of directing Star Wars," she said. "If we do want to bring a woman in to direct a Star Wars movie, we want to make sure that it’s somebody who’s passionate and really, really wants to do a Star Wars movie. We don’t want to talk somebody into it."

Kennedy did go on to say that, while she receives many calls from men in the industry wanting to get involved in Star Wars, she doesn't receive many calls from women.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens on Dec. 18. The directors currently signed on to upcoming films in the franchise are J.J. Abrams, Gareth Edwards, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, Rian Johnson and Colin Trevorrow.
