HBO has released a new trailer for Vinyl, the new series from director Martin Scorsese, producer Mick Jagger and writer Terence Winter. Bobby Cannavale stars in the gritty new drama, which focuses on the wild 1970s music scene in New York.
“Think back to the first time you heard a song that made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up,” Cannavale breathlessly tells the viewer. “Made you wanna dance! Or go out and kick somebody’s ass! That’s what I’m talking about.”
The series, which received a teaser in August, centers on Richie Finestra (Cannavale), the founder of American Century Records, who is facing a crisis and has to adjust to the changing world.
The all-star supporting cast includes Olivia Wilde, Ray Romano, Jack Quaid, James Jagger, Paul Ben-Victor, Juno Temple, B.J. Byrne, Max Casella, Ato Essandoh, J.C. MacKenzie and Birgitte Hjort Sorensen. The executive producers are Scorsese, Jagger, Winter, Rick Yorn, Victoria Pearman, Emma Tillinger Koskoff, John Melfi and Allen Coulter. Winter, who also worked on Boardwalk Empire and wrote The Wolf of Wall Street for Scorsese, is showrunner.
Vinyl will debut in January.
