Have you ever really wondered who has to clean up the messes left behind by the Avengers and other Marvel heroes? Well, ABC and Marvel will let you know with Damage Control, a half-hour, single-cam comedy that’s in development.

According to Variety, the project has landed a put-pilot commitment. That means that the produced pilot will probably air, even if ABC decides not to pick it up to series (although that seems unlikely in this case, since Marvel and ABC are both under Disney).

Damage Control will center on the teams of maintenance crews who clean up cities after a major battle and also try to return missing weapons. And yes, Marvel did actually publish a series of comics about them, so this isn’t a completely original idea.

The series was developed by Modern Family’s Ben Carlin. David Minder and Carlin will executive produce with Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb.

ABC is already the home of Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter. The network also decided to give a pilot order to a SHIELD spinoff with Nick Blood and Adrianne Palicki. John Ridley is also still developing a Marvel project as well.

This is a case of Marvel actually following in DC Comics’ footsteps. In August, it was reported that NBC and Warner Bros. are developing a project called Powerless, which is a workplace comedy about normal people living in a world with Superman.
