UFC Champion Ronda Rousey has already been announced to take the role Patrick Swayze made famous. The Road House remake is now slowly picking up steam, as MGM has found their director.

According to Variety, Nick Cassavetes has closed a deal to write and direct the re-envisioning of the ’80s action classic, with Rousey on board starring and producing. Cassavetes is known for directing The Notebook and My Sister’s Keeper so it will be interesting to see his portrayal of the '80s cult classic.

Rousey tweeted she is “grateful to have this opportunity to pay respect to the beloved Patrick Swayze” back in September. She went on to promise to work incessantly to make sure the project is a tribute to his family, which fans can be proud of.

Rousey is currently training for her UFC title defense against Molly Holly. After that fight she will go straight into production and filming of Road House while is looking for a first quarter release date in 2016.
