Daredevil was initially envisioned as a limited series that was part of the lead up to a Defenders series, but the show’s first season on Netflix was so well received that a second one was necessary. Tonight, in front of a packed crowd in the New York Comic con’s main stage, Marvel’s Jeph Loeb teased that new season, although we won’t see it until 2016.

Following an announcement that the panel was about a show with mature content (duh), Loeb showed a quick teaser for Daredevil season two. There was a little bit about how great the first season was, then flashes of footage from the new episodes. Elodie Yung’s Elektra was spotted in a very brief shot, while Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle (who was never referred to as “The Punisher” during the panel) was seen mostly from the back or from the legs down. Everyone loved the footage so much that it was shown a second time at the end.

Nearly every member of the show’s main cast made it to NYCC, even though none of them really got time to reveal much. Deborah Ann Woll might have teased a more developing relationship between Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and her character, Karen.

Yung called her character, played by Jennifer Garner in the infamous 2003 Daredevil movie, “intense” and “exciting.” She said that she’s a black belt in real life, so that training will come in handy in the series.

Bernthal’s character has been played on the big screen twice before, but neither of those films were well received. Still, The Punisher/Frank Castle is a very important character to Marvel fans, a fact the Walking Dead alum knows too well. He “knows how important this character is to you guys” and he plans to “give everything I have.” He later said that when people see him, they always tell him now, “You better not mess up, man!”

With so little actual plot revealed, Charlie Cox got to delve into the difficulty of playing a blind man. The British actor, who was also recently seen in The Theory of Everything, is not blind so “acting blind is very challenging.” It’s also a challenge to the other actors on the set, because they can’t use his eyes as a guide for emotional beats. He has worked extensively with the American Foundation For The Blind to make sure he gets everything right.

Daredevil is back for a second season in 2016.
