Elijah searches the woods for Hayley and finds Jackson in bad shape. He removes a bullet from Jackson’s chest and offers his blood, but Jackson refuses it. Elijah tells Jackson to stay there while he takes Hope home, but Jackson wants to continue looking for Hayley.
Hayley is still being held captive by Davina, who offers to help cure Hayley’s wolf curse if she’ll kill the witch who attacked her.
Marcel approaches Freya at a club. He warns her that it’s almost midnight, when everyone in the club becomes fair game for the vampires. She takes the man she was dancing with and leaves.
Cami researches the psychology behind the facial mutilation killings and looks Lucian up on the computer. She notices that he owns the land company that bought the bayou and is killing the werewolves.
At the newest crime scene, the detective sends an overeager reporter back behind the tape.
Jackson and Elijah ask Klaus what he’s done with Hayley. They know about Lucian. Klaus tells them where to find him and lets Elijah know about the prophecy. He makes jokes about Hayley and Elijah tells him that if anything happens to her, Hope will know what kind of man Klaus is and leave him when she gets old enough.
Hayley gives Davina a cut of hair for the cloaking spell and to keep her in human form as long as Davina’s candle burns. The candle is protected by magic and is locked behind a gate.
Klaus tries calling Freya. Camille appears on his doorstep. She tells him she thinks Lucian has been killing people in the quarter. She shows him a picture of a victim and Klaus says the signature looks familiar. She tells him if he’s really turning over a new leaf, he should make sure this victim is the last one.
Lucian is drinking from the reporter in his apartment. Elijah shows up. He tries to enter, but there’s a boundary spell keeping vampires from other sire lines out unless invited. Lucian says killing the wolves is population control. Elijah asks him about Hayley. Lucian calls her a tramp and says he thought she was fair game because the Mikaelsons had left her in the woods for so long. Elijah breaks a table in the hallway and throws the makeshift stake through Lucian’s throat. When Lucian pulls it out, Jackson attacks him and bites his arm. Elijah sends Jackson back to the compound to chain himself up because dawn is coming soon. Elijah tells Lucian to invite him in or he can stand there and watch him die.
Cami goes to work at the bar, across the street from the latest killing. As she heads in, someone touches her shoulder. It’s the detective. He’s done some investigation into her family background. He says he knows she’s hiding something and he’s going to find out what it is. After he leaves, she notices her laptop is missing.
Freya and her lover arrive at the Mikaelson home. Klaus shows him what he is and tells him to leave. He runs away. Klaus asks Freya to perform a locator spell to find Hayley. Freya does the spell, but can’t find any indication that Hayley is alive.
Davina is guarding the candle. The ancestors start to cancel the spell and Hayley and Jackson start to turn. Davina pleads with the ancestors to let her use Hayley against Klaus. They relight the candle and Jackson and Hayley become human again. Haley kills the witch that attacked Davina. As she starts to leave, she is attacked by a larger group of witches.
Elijah is inside Lucian’s apartment. He tells Lucian that Klaus can heal his wound once Hayley is recovered. Lucian invites Elijah to drink from the reporter who has been compelled into silence. He also tells Elijah that Tristan plans to kill Klaus to destroy his enemies. Elijah says they can’t be killed and leaves.
Marcel comes to Davina and says they have a problem. There are 11 dead witches – Hayley killed them all. Davina’s coven is mourning the dead. Davina says they must rely on her to keep them safe.
Klaus calls Lucian about the killings. Lucian denies it. Klaus offers his blood, but Lucian says it was only a scratch and he doesn’t need it. Klaus tells him if he destroys the balance of their way of life in New Orleans, he’ll kill him. After they hang up, Lucian injects himself with a cure for the bite.
It’s after dawn and Jackson is still chained to the walls. Freya won’t let him go because she can feel the curse running through his blood. Hayley appears covered in blood and knocks Freya unconscious. She then attacks Klaus. Klaus fights back. They argue over Hope. Jackson breaks free. Freya wakes and holds Jackson back so he won’t be killed by Klaus. Hayley runs for Hope. She tells Klaus that she doesn’t want Hope to think that they abandoned her like their own parents did. She hits him, but he won’t fight back because Hope is standing on the landing watching them. Hayley picks her up, upset that she missed her first steps.
