Ron Jeremy, an icon of the porn industry, was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday after suffering a heart aneurysm. He underwent two successful surgeries Wednesday night, but remains unconscious.
His manager Mike Esterman told The New York Daily News that the emergency surgeries “went smoothly.” Jeremy is currently “resting with complete privacy and no visitors.”
Esterman confirmed that as of Wednesday night, he was still unconscious.
According to The Associated Press, Esterman said that Jeremy drove himself to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after he had a heavy feeling in his chest.
“His instincts were correct to seek help at that moment,” his manager said. “He is in the ICU and has not been conscious since surgery.”
Jeremy, who was born in Queens, has starred in over 2,000 porn films and has made several appearances in mainstream films. Even though he recently retired, he has continued to represent the industry and appeared in the reality series The Surreal Life. According to Hollywood Life, he was even invited to speak at the Oxford Union in the UK in 2005.
