For this challenge, the designers are to create a red carpet look. Project Runway is sending the designers to Los Angeles. They are to use L.A. as their inspiration. Additionally, they will be creating their looks there. The challenge decides who goes to New York Fashion Week. No pressure or anything. The designers get a day and a half for this challenge and $400 at Mood Fabrics.

The challenge is being sponsored by the Best Western Hotel chain. The winner of this challenge will get 100 free room nights at any Best Western around the world.

The three criteria for a red carpet look are: 1. drama 2. color 3. fit.

For some reason, all of the designers are gravitating towards sequin fabrics. Let’s hope that it’s tasteful sequins and not tacky dance recital sequins.

Ashely created a gold sequin floor length gown with an a-symmetrical top with one long sleeve. The way the cut-out is on the top, it has a weird fit in the breast area.

Candice created a black floor length gown with a train. It has black mesh with sequin black criss-cross detail covering the chest and neck.

Kelly created a jumpsuit with a triangle cut-out in the middle. She created the textile herself, but cutting out each individual triangle and sewing the opaque fabric on top of it. It has a halter top with no back.

Edmond created a short dress with dramatic sleeves out of blue and purple sequin fabric.

Winner: Kelly
Going Home: Edmond
Going to New York Fashion Week: Candice, Kelly, Ashley

Side Note: Tim Gunn has not used his Tim Gunn save yet this season. Why didn’t he use it on Edmond so he could go to fashion week!?!
