It’s been confirmed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association that Ricky Gervais will be back to host the Golden Globes again.
The telecast will air on NBC on Jan. 10, 2016 and the network’s Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt has expressed excitement over welcoming Gervais back as host.
“We’re excited to have Ricky Gervais back to host the most enjoyable awards show of the season in his own inimitable way,” he said in a release. ”Disarming and surprising, Ricky is ready to honor — and send up — the best work of the year in film and television. Fasten your seats belts.”
Lorenzo Soria, President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, continued to say Gervais’ “off-the-cuff wit and quirky charm will surely have the room and audiences around the world at the edge of their seats.”
Gervais hosted the Golden Globes consecutively from 2010-2012, and became known to make the celebrities in the room uncomfortable by taking jabs at them as they sit in the audience. In 2012, he vowed to never return as host.
He took to Twitter to joke, “Now I want Donald Trump to stop saying things until the day before The Golden Globes,” and “It's a good job I'm drunk. Otherwise the thought of hosting The Golden Globes again would seem like a real pain in the arse.”
The nominations will be announced on Dec. 10.
