Over the years, Disney films have certainly been popular at the box office, but have also greatly influenced our culture today. For many of us, when we think of princesses and fairy tales, we immediately associate them with Disney. Many little girls dream of being princesses. They dress up as them, they have princess-themed birthday parties, their rooms are decorated accordingly, and they play with princess dolls.
Early on Disney princesses had a docile personality. They were always gentle, kind and gracious. The fair damsels would be rescued by a handsome prince. In the post-1960 era, the princesses became more prominent and daring characters. Sometimes they would rescue the hero. But one theme is true of all the princesses: love. All of the princesses shared and received love in return.
