Marvel is slowly adding more female superheroes to their roster including Scarlet Witch and the Wasp, and now it's rumored that a brand new hero will make her debut in Thor: Ragnarok.
According to Birth.Movies.Death, Thor: Ragnarok will introduce Valkyrie into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. First appearing in The Avengers in 1970, Valkyrie is an Asgardian who possesses super strength and the ability to travel to and from the land of the dead.
Supposedly, Ragnarok will be something of a "cosmic road trip" with Thor and the Hulk, who is rumored to play a major role in the film. The duo will apparently meet up with Valkyrie along the way, and Marvel is looking for a great actress to cast in the role. The studio is also looking to cast Captain Marvel at the moment, and so they'll likely be meeting with a whole lot of actresses over the next few months.
This would be exciting news for those looking for greater female representation in comic book movies. The report comes just a week after Marvel announced their Ant-Man sequel would involve the Wasp in a major way, and the movie will in fact be called Ant-Man And The Wasp. Finally, these major superhero movies might not be such a boys club anymore. To quote The Wasp herself, it's about damn time.
