The 2010 Oscars screamed Hollywood glamour. From the exquisitely detailed gowns to the flawlessly coiffed hair, the night’s fashion was more than suitable for Hollywood’s most noteworthy event. I have created a list of the top 10 best dressed stars and let me tell you, it was very hard to choose my favorites!
When examining the night’s top trends, I noticed a handful of shimmering gowns in neutral colors such as gold and pale pink. Best Actress recipient Sandra Bullock wore this trend beautifully. She was a golden goddess in her body hugging Marchesa gown that featured a sheer floral embroidered bodice and sparkling train.
Cameron Diaz was another A-lister that dazzled in a gold embroidered gown. Unlike Bullock’s form fitting silhouette, Diaz opted for a full skirt fit for a princess. The strapless Oscar de la Renta gown combined with her curled golden hair, red lips, and Cartier jewels created a glamorous ensemble.
Miley Cyrus looked sophisticated but still age appropriate in her gold bustier gown by Jenny Packham. Her loose updo and light pink lips emulated the softness of the dress.
Like Cyrus, Kate Winslet also wore a neutral colored bustier-topped dress. The champagne YSL creation looked stunning against her pale skin. Winslet was statuesque and radiated sophistication.
Fellow pale-skinned actress, Anna Kendrick, was ultra-feminine in a blush colored Elie Saab Haute Couture gown. The lace-trimmed slit and floral accent mixed with the soft draping immediately won me over.
Jennifer Lopez looked divine in a pale pink Armani Prive gown. The design featured a prominent train and origami fold. It also highlighted her famous womanly figure.
Beaded and jewel-encrusted gowns covered the red carpet as well. Nicole Richie dazzled in her beaded, bell sleeved, and open back Reem Acra gown. The socialite went for retro glam with this 60’s inspired gown and cat-eye makeup.
Ruffles were another big fashion statement at the 2010 Oscars. Diane Kruger rocked this trend in a fashion forward cream and black Chanel Haute Couture collection gown. The halter neckline and open back was a perfect selection for Kruger’s tiny frame.
Penelope Cruz along with Kristen Stewart went for structured satin designs. Cruz was a siren in a pleated Donna Karan couture gown. The gorgeous deep shade of red complemented her skin tone and hair color beautifully.
Stewart’s midnight blue Monique Lhuillier trumpet gown was a far cry from her usual relaxed style but is definitely one of her top fashion moments. Wearing her hair up showed off the gown’s sweetheart neckline. Also, the gown’s gatherings and silhouette were very flattering on the Twilight star.
It was a difficult task to select the best dressed attendees at the 2010 Oscars but it was nice to have a surplus of beautiful gowns! Hopefully the 2012 Oscars will be filled with iconic fashion moments as well.
