The X-Men franchise got its much-needed reboot with X-Men: First Class and has built up a lot of momentum in the past few years. X-Men Apocalypse is something fans of the series have been anticipating for a very long time.

The synopsis for the film has now been released. According to Coming Soon, the plot details for the film are as follows.

“Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.”

With the departure of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine it makes sense that the filmmakers would focus on Jennifer Lawrence and Mystique. Lawrence is a huge star and will certainly put people in seats.

Screen Crush reported that M&M’s is also partnering with X-Men to help promote the film. The press release says, “Who doesn’t love M&M’S and their hilarious band of characters?” and what better way to promote that “hilarious” bag of candy by pairing it with the most dour group of superheroes.
