Gunfire erupted early Wednesday morning in a suburb just north of Paris as law enforcement officials there continued the raids for terrorism suspects connected with last week’s attacks.
NBC News noted a woman detonated a suicide vest as officers entered an apartment in Saint-Denis around 4:30 a.m. local time. During that raid another person was also killed and seven people were arrested.
French officials have been searching for Belgian jihadist, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, who is believed to be the mastermind behind Friday’s vicious attacks on French civilians. Police have not yet confirmed if Abaaoud was among those arrested.
As we previously reported, more than 129 people were killed by the attacks in Paris. The city and most of Europe remains on high alert.
Tuesday two planes, which left the U.S., were unable to land in Paris after reports of a bomb threat. Those planes did, however, land safely elsewhere. And in Germany a soccer match was cancelled after authorities received what they believed at the time was a credible bomb threat at the stadium.
