It is being reported that the alleged mastermind behind the Paris attacks has been killed during a raid by French law enforcement officials early Wednesday morning.

The Washington Post noted that the report that Abdelhamid Abaaoud is dead has come from two senior European intelligence officials.

As we previously reported, French police and soldiers stormed an apartment in the Paris suburb of Saint-Denis around 4:30 a.m. At least seven people were arrested in the raid and two were killed. One was confirmed to be a female who blew herself up, however, at the time police could not confirm the identity of the second deceased person.

The officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that they now have received word that Abaaoud was in fact one of the deceased.

If the report of his death is true, it is not clear whether he was killed by police, by his own hands or in the blast detonated by the woman in the apartment.
